Ms. Chen Bio:
Founder of C&S Music School, registered music teacher of Ontario Canada. Ms. Chen completed her Master in Piano Performance degree from University of Victoria, Bachelor of Music Pedagogy Piano Performance from China Conservatory of Music.
Ms. Chen’s personal piano performance success started at a very young age. She received many awards in piano competitions from the age of 5. In 2001, she was accepted to study in China Conservatory of Music as the Top Student in the entrance exam. She studied under the direction of Professor Chenglan Xiao, who was the lead professor of the faculty at the time.
In 2003, she was awarded Third Place at the Beijing “Hope Cup” Piano Competition’s professional youth group. In the same year, she received Professional Practice Scholarship at the China Conservatory of Music. She was the piano accompanist at the China “New Comers and New Works” music competition in 2004, and her accompanied performance was highly regarded by the original composers. She was the piano soloist of the 40th Founding Music Concert for the China Music Conservatory.
In 2005, she graduated from the China Music Conservatory as the Top Student, and she was the only student awarded “Beijing Excellent Graduate Student” and “China Conservatory of Music Excellent Graduate Student”. Between 2001 and 2005, she appeared in many Master classes in China and overseas, and her performances were widely praised by the class instructors.
Ms. Chen continued her pianist success throughout her piano teaching career. In 2005, upon her graduation from China Conservatory of Music, she was selected as the instructor of piano for the University. She has performed extensively in many solo recitals and has been invited to participate in New Year’s music concerts. Between 2007 and 2008, she was presented with the Teacher of Excellence award from the Teacher’s College.
In 2008, she was awarded Third Place in the National Piano Competition’s professional youth group. In 2009, she won the First Prize at the Second Annual National University Piano Professors Competition’s Youth Soloist Group. There were over 100 competitors from 89 universities and colleges from 27 provinces in China who participated in this competition. Ms. Chen’s outstanding performance and precise interpretation of the music piece and style brought her acclaimed praise and recognition from all the judicators.
Ms. Chen has a wealth of experience in helping students achieve their full potential. In 2009, her student was accepted by China Central Conservatory of Music Affiliated High School. In 2009, she was elected as the Vice President of the Pianist Association. She was the judicator of the “Xian Luan Cup” Piano Competition. In the same year, she was nominated by the Party Secretary of the Fujian Province to be featured in a personal TV interview. Between 2008 and 2010, she was the judicator for many national piano competitions as well as the examiner of many elementary and high school entrance exams. In 2010, her student was awarded First Place of juvenile group at the Asia International Piano Competition in Hong Kong. In 2011, she was awarded the International Excellent Teacher Award. Between 2005 and 2011, many of Ms. Chen’s students were accepted by prestigious music schools and universities in China and overseas.
Ms. Chen continued improving her piano performance and teaching experience when she moved to Canada. In 2011, she entered The University of Victoria with a full scholarship and Graduate Awards. She studied Master of Music in Piano Performance and she participated in many chamber music concerts’ directive work at the university. Between 2011 and 2017, she performed in many piano solo recitals and chamber music concerts. She was invited to perform at concerts in Hong Kong and Taiwan and hosted music seminars for aspiring artists.
Since 2013, her students have won gold, silver, and bronze medals and awards in many Canadian piano competitions. Her students from China and Canada are very successful in Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) and Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) exams and have received exam marks of First Honours with Distinction. She has instructed a myriad of Master classes in China and Hong Kong and participated in various artistic directive work.
In 2019, nine of her students were awarded First and Second Places at the Crescendo International Competition and were invited to perform at the New York Carnegie Hall. In 2021, many of her students were awarded at the Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival and Ottawa Pianos Festival. Some of the students were nominated for the Ontario Music Festival and awarded First, Second and Third Places. One of the students was the Best of Class in the group out of 50 competitors from across the province.
